This attack is painful in multiple ways. First, like any other ransomware attack, it creates chaos for the victims. In this case, the Judiciary cannot offer its much-needed services to the public. And the ensuing damages that this attack creates will be felt for a long time. But it is also painful because it is likely that the attackers got access to the network by conducting a phishing attack on email addresses obtained through the Globant data leak which happened in March of 2022. Meaning the Judiciary has had plenty of time to take appropriate measures to train their users and increase their security posture to maximize the chances of mitigating an attack.Even though ransomware attacks seem to be commonplace nowadays, we should not underestimate the risk and likelihood of falling victim to one. And we should take appropriate measures to minimize the risks involved.
