As Downton Abbey star Jessica Brown Findlay opens up about the hacking scandal calling for better online policing, Intel Security comments on the issue of protecting our private content and where the responsibility lies with us. Raj Samani, CTO for EMEA, Intel Security haev the following comments on it.

[su_note note_color=”#ffffcc” text_color=”#00000″]Raj Samani, CTO for Intel Security EMEA:

“It’s great to see Jessica bringing the issue of hacking private content back to the top of the news agenda. As so many of us live through the internet nowadays it is scary how easy it is for others to take advantage. Hackers are becoming increasingly savvy and it’s of the utmost importance that we too take suit.

A recent study from Intel Security found that over half (55%) of people in the UK have intimate or sexually explicit content stored on their mobile device. Yet, one in three don’t even have the most basic password protection on these devices. We must do all we can to protect our private content adopting the ‘prevention versus cure’ approach and really thinking carefully every time before sharing something through online methods.

If it is something you wouldn’t be happy showing to the world, then maybe reconsider whether you want to send it at all. In essence, you have a digital life that can follow you through life. Some go as far as to call it a ‘digital tattoo’ as once something appears online it is extremely difficult to remove all traces of it completely.”[/su_note]
