FBI Warns Healthcare Entities Of Threats To FTP Servers

The FBI has warned the healthcare sector to step up security of its file transfer protocol servers as cyber criminals step up attacks targeting FTP servers running in anonymous mode. Paul Calatayud, Chief Technology Officer at FireMon commented below.

Paul Calatayud, Chief Technology Officer at FireMon:

paul-calatayud“The FBI warning is a clear reminder that weak network protocols continue to be an easy target for attackers. Often, these systems were set up decades ago and became a critical part of the organization. Deploying proper firewall policy auditing is a quick and easy way to begin to identify these more outdated services. Using SFTP tied to active directory would greatly reduce the risks associated with this FBI warning.”
