Tim Erlin, Senior Director of IT security and risk strategy at Tripwire commented below.
Tim Erlin, Senior Director of IT Security and Risk Strategy at Tripwire:
“At this point, there’s little substantive information to go on here. We’re lacking details on the types and timing of the attacks, and on the motivations of the attacker. The lack of information makes it hard to draw meaningful conclusions.
It is clear that Russian intelligence has stepped up efforts to penetrate US institutions. The increased activity surrounding a presidential election is a clear indicator that these kinds of cyberattacks are now part of the political landscape.”
