Vaccine Documentation Needs To Be Kept Secure

BACKGROUND:

As Malta, Madeira and the Balearic Islands were announced on the UK green list last night, many brits are now hopeful for summer sun. It is clear that proof of tests, vaccines and identification cards will be of huge importance for travellers and the potential threat from hackers for these documents is now higher than ever.

With more countries being added to the green list as of today and discussions around quarantine rules being waived for fully vaccinated travellers returning from amber countries, the promise of a summer of exotic travel is becoming increasingly likely for desperate jet-setters.

For many it has been 18 months or longer since they last left the country and now with the addition of a vaccine card on the list of important documents to remember, it is understandable that many will be more concerned about travel protocol and documentation. Whilst saving a photo of your COVID-19 vaccination card seems more sensible than carrying the physical card risking damage or loss, your camera roll isn’t encrypted or secure making it equally as unsafe.

The best place to store your COVID-19 vaccine card, along with any other important travel documentation, is in a password manager that offers a secure online vault that both requires a password, but is also easily accessible through an app on your phone should you need to pull it up. Taking this simple step, especially when travelling with your family, making sure everyone you are traveling with has secure access to the same documentation can ease any confusion at check in or immigration.
