As Instant Checkmate reports in the following infographic, more than three hundred million people fell victim to one or more cybercrimes last year alone; what is more, the cost per victim has risen by 50% over the last year. Mobile phone users are particularly vulnerable, as up to half do not take basic security measures to secure their device from hacking. The fact that people keep both work and personal files on their phones is particularly worrisome, as a phone hack can endanger not only the individual but also an entire company.

Fortunately, there are a number of simple things that you can do to prevent yourself from becoming the next victim of a Trojan, Worm, Code injection, browser attack and/or any other form of cybercrime. Not chatting with unknown people online, researching online sellers before doing business with them and being wary of unsolicited data and emails are just a few steps that you can take to avoid becoming the next victim of a cyber attack. Parents whose children use a mobile device will want to teach them to be watchful of unknown social media invitations and to avoid downloading files without explicit permission.
