The ICS-ISAC is pleased to announce that we are a recipient of one of four HOST awards to support our Situational Awareness Reference Architecture (SARA) pilot Phase 1.  In addition, we want to congratulate ISAC Member Automatak and Adam Crain for an award to further strengthening DNP3, a standards-based SCADA/ICS protocol deployed pervasively in the US, Australia, and the UK.

The Homeland Open Security Technology (HOST) program is funded by the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T). HOST’s mission is to investigate open security methods, models and technologies as well as identify viable and sustainable approaches that support national cybersecurity objectives in the areas of discovery, collaboration, and investment.

“We sincerely thanks DHS, Georgia Technical Institute and the HOST proposal review team for the recognition and support for the SARA project.” said Chris Blask, ICS-ISAC Chair. “This is a very timely indicator from the public sector that efforts underway in the private sector are key to securing national critical infrastructure. Our partners in the SARA project including Energysec, Enernex, Management Analytics and vendor members such as Sourcefire, Tripwire, Palo Alto, Threatconnect and others are creating an open and portable guide which facility operators will be able to leverage to demonstrably improve security and control of the infrastructure underpinning modern society.”

The SARA project is currently in pilot with a draft guide being released in early 2014. Vendors, integrators and asset owners interested in participating should contact the ICS-ISAC for further information.
