The Odisha Government has decided to designate Additional Director General of Police (Crime) as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of the State.

In view of the increasing cyber attacks and cyber terrorism, the Centre had issued a set of guidelines to form the Crisis Management Group (CMP). It had also asked that a senior officer be designated as the CISO.

The Chief Minister’s Office has suggested that the Home Secretary be nominated as the Chairman of the Crisis Management Group while ADG (Crime) be designated as CISO, not IG (Crime).

The responsibility of the CISO will be to coordinate security policy compliance measures for the State Government and report to CERT-In. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, CERT-In as it is known, is the Central organisation mandated with IT security in the country.
