ISSE Announces 2014 Conference Programme

ISSE (Information Security Solutions Europe) has announced the programme for its 2014 conference, which takes place in Brussels on October 14th and 15th, 2014. Now in its 15th year, ISSE is the leading independent, interdisciplinary IT security event in Europe.

Stephan Somogyi, who is responsible for security and privacy product management at Google, will present the first keynote presentation, “How to protect a big player”. He will be followed by Howard Schmidt, a partner at Ridge Schmidt Cyber LLC and the former Cyber-Security Coordinator of the Obama Administration, who will talk about fighting against software vulnerabilities.

Organised by EEMA and TeleTrusT, the two-day conference includes more than 80 sessions run across four tracks. Key topics include:

– Trust Services, eID and Cloud Security

European trust services and eIdentity regulation, governance rules, standardisation, interoperability of services and applications, architectures in the cloud, governance, risks, migration issues

– BYOD and Mobile Security

Processes and technologies for managing BYOD programs, smartphone/tablet security, mobile malware, application threats

– Cybersecurity, Cybercrime, Critical Infrastructures

Attacks and countermeasures against industrial Infrastructures, CERT/CSIRT – European and global developments, resilience of networks & services, surveillance techniques and analytics

– Security Management, CISO Inside

CISOs featuring the latest trends and issues in information security, risk mitigation, compliance and governance; policy, planning and emerging areas of enterprise security architecture

– Privacy, Data Protection, Human Factors

Issues in big data and cloud, privacy enhancing technologies, insider threats, social networking/engineering and security awareness programs; enforcing privacy in the age of Google Glass

– Regulation & Policies

Governmental cybersecurity strategies, authentication, authorisation and accounting; governance, risk and compliance

Executive Director of EEMA Roger Dean explains why ISSE is firmly established as a major event on the IT security calendar: “ISSE provides a forum for people to network at the highest level, to improve their own knowledge and skills. The conference will be brought to a close with a presentation entitled “Post-Snowden Crypto,” which will be delivered by the world-renowned cryptography expert, Professor Bart Preneel.
