Kaspersky Lab today announces a new application for iOS called AdCleaner – a free extension for Safari that automatically blocks advertising banners, links and popup windows in web pages opened by the user. This makes using the mobile browser easier and more secure.
Today’s mobile users are accustomed to fast Internet speeds and quick access to information, wherever they are. But sometimes, to get to the information they need, they have to spend time weaving their way through the numerous layers of advertising taking up space on the mobile device’s screen, which tend to be small enough as it is.
Kaspersky AdCleaner filters the content of websites opened in Safari, the standard iOS browser, removing annoying advertising that prevents users from viewing information properly (the user can always choose to load the complete page). In this way, AdCleaner not only makes surfing the web faster and more convenient, but also helps to reduce the amount of traffic and save battery power.
“We at Kaspersky Lab believe that no detail is too small when it comes to Internet security. It is our position that users have the right to choose what to see or not see online. Filtering advertising with Kaspersky AdCleaner helps to avoid accidentally tapping on advertising banners, which can result in following potentially dangerous links or seeing unwanted content. And finally, this helps to protect the user’s privacy: ad agencies will not be able to track the user’s actions online,” commented Alexey Chikov, Senior Product Manager, Kaspersky Lab.
The application is available in App Store for a limited number of countries, in English and in Russian, and supports iOS 9 or higher (starting from iPhone 5s, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2). Kaspersky AdCleaner complements the portfolio of Kaspersky Lab applications for iOS, which includes Kaspersky Safe Kids, Kaspersky Password Manager, Kaspersky Safe Browser, and Kaspersky QR Scanner.
