Following the news about DDOS Attacks Against Digital Broadcasters to Worsen in 2017, Jonathan Smith, Managing Director EMEA, Limelight Networks commented below.
Jonathan Smith, Managing Director EMEA at Limelight Networks:
While much of the attention on cybersecurity tends to be on financial services, the UK creative sector is a long established target of cyber attacks on intellectual property. There is a growing trend in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks that can be extremely costly for streaming video content companies.
With the government estimating the sector makes £10 million an hour for the economy, service interruptions have wider implications that I hope are considered within national cybersecurity strategy in 2017. The media and entertainment industry needs to take heed of heightened threats and consider whether their content delivery infrastructure is truly state of the art for low latency, but also DDoS resiliency and rapid recovery for their digital content services.”
