Vodafone UK has announced it has been certified to ISO 27001, the international standard for information security management in the UK. The certification was awarded by LRQA, a member of the Lloyd’s Register group, and it applies to the delivery of mobile voice and data services across Vodafone’s UK network. It confirms the company has a robust set of policies and controls in place to ensure the secure management of its customer data, as well as a mature risk assessment process.
The announcement comes shortly after Vodafone became the first telecoms firm in the UK to achieve a UK Government Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, bolstering its already impressive security proposition.

“Vodafone is known for its leadership in security and we are committed to retaining this position,” said Howard Pinto, Head of Technology Security at Vodafone UK. “Our standing as a trusted partner to the public sector means ISO 27001 is an essential part of our portfolio, but also means we can help organisations uphold their integrity and reputation as they face much more sophisticated security threats than ever before.
“We are committed to being a safe pair of hands for our customers so that they can have the peace of mind to do what they need to do to grow their business. We will continue to evolve to cater to the needs of the industry and maintain the high quality standards that our customers have come to expect from us.”
The ISO 27001 certificate in Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) helps organisations securely manage financial information, intellectual property and employee details, and applies to people, processes and IT systems. See here for more information. Vodafone has already been awarded ISO certifications in quality management (ISO 9001) and business continuity (ISO 22301).
