Managers at all levels need to be aware of cyber risks to their business and how to respond to them.
Standard company procedures within business are too slow to respond to cyber-attacks says a professor at a leading European business school. Professor Marcel Creemers of Nyenrode Business Universiteit in the Netherlands run security masterclasses for CIOs and MBA students. Working in conjunction with KPMG and IDG the classes explore the realities and consequences of a cyber-attack via a business simulation.
According to Professor Creemers, to keep up with the hackers, companies must tap into the hacker’s mind-set. “It can take a hacker under 5 minutes to get inside a company, so you need to assess your protection from a hacker’s perspective. Find out where the weak spots are and reinforce them.
“Cyber security is not only an IT issue it’s a business issue too. Managers at all levels need to be aware of the risks and need to know how to respond to them in the quickest way.” Professor Creemers commented.
