News that the US National Security Agency (NSA) and Federal Bureau of Investigation, tapping into the servers of Internet giants has exposed the US government’s double standards in gathering online data, cyber security analysts have said.
Washington Post’s expose of the surveillance programme, code named PRISM, shows that the NSA has been secretly collecting data from as many as nine internet companies even as it repeatedly turned down requests from various countries including India which wanted such information to aid its own investigations into terrorism and criminal cases.
