Panda Security will continue providing anti-malware support for Windows XP despite the operating system’s end-of-life date in April
As previously announced by Microsoft, after April 8, 2014, technical assistance for Windows XP will no longer be available, including automatic updates that help protect PCs. Despite this announcement, users will still be able to continue using Windows XP, albeit knowing that their computers will be more vulnerable to security risks in general and malware in particular.
Panda Security, The Cloud Security Company, confirms that its corporate solution Panda Cloud Office Protection will continue to offer the same level of service to Windows XP users, despite Microsoft’s plan to end support for the operating system.
“It is very important for us to keep our commitments to our customers”, explained Manuel Santamaría, Global Product Manager at Panda Security. “Nearly 50 percent of the two million computers currently protected with Panda Cloud Office Protection have Windows XP installed, so for our customers it is extremely important that we continue supporting this operating system, particularly after their systems lose product support on April 8, leaving them vulnerable”.
Panda Security recommends that Windows XP users take additional precautions after April, and follow general security best practices to prevent malware infections until they upgrade their operating systems to a safer version.
There is no set End of Life date for Panda Cloud Office Protection to cease to support of Windows XP SP2, however support for Windows SP1 and earlier are due to end on Sep-2015.
