Edinburgh, 27 March 2014 – Bloxx, a leader in content filtering and security, today announced that it has been awarded international patents for its real-time contextual Web page classification software, Tru-View Technology. The patents cover the use of the software in the company’s Web and Email content filtering products.
Developed by Bloxx in its research centre in Livingston, Scotland, Tru-View Technology accurately analyses and dynamically categorises Web pages in real-time. With nearly 100 new websites being created every minute and Web content being updated constantly, legacy methods of identifying and categorising Web content no longer provides the dynamic, real-time protection organisations now need. The patents, which cover the USA and Europe, recognise that security challenge and Bloxx’s unique approach to solving it.
Charles Sweeney, CEO, Bloxx commented: “The patents demonstrate to the wider marketplace, our customers and prospects that the technology at the heart of our products is unique. The Web is dynamic and ever evolving, so organisations can no longer depend on legacy filtering that relies on URL databases or keyword scoring to deliver the levels of real-time security they need.”
“Our goal at Bloxx is to empower organisations to safely and securely unleash the full potential of the Internet which is why we’ve built our technology from the ground up around the need to be real-time, intelligent and robust. The patents are a validation of our belief that security should be a business enabler.”
The unique benefits that Bloxx’s Tru-View Technology delivers in content filtering has led to a rapidly growing global OEM business through its partnership with NetSTAR of Japan. In the last six months, the company has signed five significant new deals with companies who will integrate Tru-View Technology into their filtering products. The Tru-View Technology Software Development Kit (SDK) lets Web Filtering OEM suppliers or Web Filtering suppliers quickly develop customised Web content categorisation applications with proven technology.
Sweeney continued: “What these patents underline is that there is unique value in our products. The way we solve the customer problem is not the same as our competitors and there is good reason for that. For us as a business the award of the patents is a real milestone and we hope it will act as a platform for further growth.”
