Catbird, the leader in security policy automation and enforcement for private clouds and virtual infrastructure, has announced the company has been featured as a vendor of “Innovative Approaches to SDN Security” for the nascent software-defined networking (SDN) market in a recently released report by Frost and Sullivan, “The Network Security Implications of Software Defined Networks (SDN).”

The report describes Catbird as an example of  “vendors already bringing innovative security solutions to the market.  These solutions can leverage some or all of the potential of SDN.”

“We are honored to be selected and recognized by Frost & Sullivan for our unique and effective policy-based approach to network security and compliance for cloud infrastructure and SDN,” said Edmundo Costa, CEO of Catbird. “The report is a must read for anyone considering the security implications of a migration to SDN, and we are pleased to have been a part of Frost’s research process. This report highlights an opportunity for organizations to strategize for the coming data center network transformation represented by SDN, and to shift security to a policy-based approach that applies controls based on applications and users and audits and enforces for continuous compliance.”

“For a network security vendor, preparing for SDN is a natural extension or a next step in product evolution, after enabling the service to be run on a public cloud platform,” wrote Frank Dickson, Industry Principal of Information and Network Security at Frost & Sullivan. “Catbird utilizes an SDN approach to support an enterprise’s need for security and compliance, utilizing an automated method to capture and analyze security and hypervisor events..”
