  • Don’t get lazy with passwords:Make sure you have a unique password for every account – be it Uber, Amazon, Netflix, email, social media platforms, etc. This ensures that even if one account is breached, your other accounts will be secure.
  • Change your passwords often: Some breaches aren’t discovered or disclosed for years, the Yahoo breach that took place two years ago is a classic example – as such you never know when your information might be in danger. Changing passwords regularly will ensure that your accounts are always being protected against unknown threats. Password hygiene isn’t just for breaches!
  • Forget your passwords: It may sound counter-intuitive but having such a strong password that you can’t remember it is often the best way to protect your accounts. With a password made up of random letters and numbers, it is far more difficult for accounts to be breached. By using a password manager, you don’t have to remember theses passwords, and can change them whenever you want, to a unique password for every account you have.
