“It’s good to see the latest amends to the Digital Economy Bill demonstrate the Government’s commitment to tackling the unfair practices in the ticketing market that allow ticket touts to prosper at the expense of genuine fans.
In particular, we are delighted to see the banning of bots used by touts to buy up premium tickets as soon as they go on sale. Thankfully, there is an easy solution for websites wanting to prevent the use of bots because a bot doesn’t have a live face! Fans who buy tickets for themselves and their friends can link their identities to their tickets. This guarantees legitimate ownership because only a real person can buy the ticket, preventing touts from reselling large quantities of tickets to other people at inflated prices on secondary ticket sites.”
