Commenting on the opening of the Interpol Global Complex for Innovation, Interpol’s first digital crime centre to support international policing efforts against cybercrime, Craig Richardson, CEO of Wynyard Group said:
Craig Richardson, CEO, Wynyard Group
The cyber landscape is changing rapidly, with cyber-crimes becoming increasingly sophisticated and highly organised. In less than five years, hacktivism, serious cybercrime and cyber espionage has become a $1 trillion problem representing the greatest transfer of wealth in history. In order to stay ahead of cybercriminals, it is critical that law enforcement agencies across the world have access to the most advanced tools and technology in the fight against entities engaged in destructive cyber-attacks and to effectively detect advanced attacks which hide deeply in data and time.
The Interpol Global Complex for Innovation is a great step forward in addressing this. Its state-of-the-art cybercrime fighting centre is expected to provide international police with the latest technology to counter emerging cyber-crime trends.
It’s also very encouraging that the centre plans to work closely with private sector. Expertise from security firms for example can prove a valuable aid for law enforcement agencies in the battle to keep pace with the cybercrime community.”
