In response to the spate of cyberattacks that Taiwan has suffered over the last day, cyber security experts reacted below.

Of course, there’s some potential for state affiliated or state sympathising retaliation, disruption, or blowback from other cyber operations in the wake of the cyberattack on Taiwan’s presidential office. For the majority of businesses in the region though, it’s going to be a case of “business as usual” in the face of these threats.

Despite ongoing shifts in the current threat landscape, it’s far more likely the presidential office has fallen victim to a ransomware or extortion incident by one of the numerous active ransomware groups, rather than a nation-state led attack.
