BYOD is still a highly debated trend that leaves many businesses saying, “undecided.” While it is evident that the direction of consumerization means company policy and user’s needs must meet somewhere in the middle, business are still uncomfortable with taking the BYO plunge.
Some of the reasons businesses argue against BYOD is the risk of data loss on untrusted devices. Recently, the loss of an unencrypted laptop cost a healthcare provider over $1.5 million due to potential HIPAA violations. Another main reason is tech support. Businesses question whether their IT department has the capability to manage all devices will ensuring data security.
While these are reasonable and good concerns to have, they are concerns that can be mitigated. An infographic designed by BYOD expert, Moka5, outlines 3 barriers and 3 drivers for implementing a BYOD policy and the one solution that can satisfy both end-users and IT.
