At a time when EU data-protection legislation is under review and companies are increasingly urged to protect the sensitive customer and employee data they hold, Iron Mountain research shows that just over one third of European office workers regularly share confidential company information with their colleagues, and more than a quarter are passing on secrets about other staff!Employees in human resources and marketing top the office scale of (in)discretion, with 64 per cent of those in HR and half (50 per cent) of those in marketing admitting to having shared confidential information about the company, with 44 and 36 per cent respectively passing on private information about their colleagues.
