RapID Secure Login enables WordPress users to easily access their accounts without insecure and cumbersome passwords
Lutterworth, England/Reston, VA – Today, digital identity and credentials expert, Intercede announced the launch of RapID Secure Login (RapID-SL), a Plugin for WordPress that enables administrators and subscribers to log into websites and blogs with fingerprints instead of usernames and passwords. By eliminating the use of insecure passwords, users are provided with superior usability and more robust security.
RapID Secure Login is a WordPress Plugin that works with an Android or iOS app. Available through the WordPress Plugin Directory, it harnesses Intercede’s RapID credentialing service to provide high security authentication using 2048-bit cryptographic keys without having to write a line of code.
To login from any desktop browser, users scan a QR-code with RapID-SL on a smartphone. The app then delivers a cryptographic signature which logs the user in without having to enter any details into the browser. As a result, there’s no risk of details being intercepted or cached. Users also don’t need to remember complex passwords that can be hacked. To login with RapID-SL from a phone or tablet, users simply tap the QR code on screen and subsequently provide a fingerprint or PIN.
The integrated plugin can be installed onto WordPress without any coding or technical knowledge. As a replacement for the popular but end-of-life ‘Clef’ 2FA plugin, RapID-SL offers high levels of security and convenience without being dependent on 3rd party authentication services. With fewer ‘moving parts’ RapID-SL is built with performance and reliability in mind. As a first in the industry, WordPress users are provided with ‘frictionless’ fingerprint or PIN login from a single mobile app, enabling access to multiple accounts on multiple websites with no passwords in sight.
“Based on Intercede’s proven experience working with some of the most security conscious organisations in the world, this new Plugin provides users with a secure, easy to implement and simple to use authentication service for any WordPress site,” commented Intercede’s CEO, Richard Parris. “The solution is security magic for small businesses and consumers who have previously felt digitally disenfranchised from enjoying strong levels of security and privacy. Faced with the harsh reality of today’s digital economy, usernames and passwords are no longer fit for purpose as they become an easy target for hackers. RapID-SL provides an alternative that is both more secure and user-friendly. We expect more businesses and consumers to demand this level of security in future to protect their sensitive information from prying eyes.”
