Reporting on data breaches is important to keep readers up to date with healthcare data breaches as means to keep all of the stakeholders involved – healthcare organizations, vendors and patients – informed. To what degree patients are affected remains up for debate, but as Javelin Research recently expounded upon, there have been and will be cases in which patients bear the brunt of the responsibility and are affected years later. We have all heard plenty about future Office for Civil Rights (OCR) HIPAA security audits, but where exactly is that fine money going and will those funds.
