Cryptzone, the data protection specialists, have confirmed that Midwest Operating Engineers IT Services, Corporation (MOEITS) is the first customer to upgrade to the latest version of its Secured eCollaboration. In just over two weeks, the IT managed services provider confirms it has been able to achieve greater control over user access and heightened security of its document library.

Secured eCollaboration allows MOEITS to minimize its liability, and feel confident that documents are only viewed by their intended audience. Ron Borden, Executive Director for MOEITS, confirms, “Originally, we needed a way for our users to communicate with third party providers, safely and securely. The solution also needed to encompass BYODs, increasingly prevalent in our environment. This latest version of Secured eCollaboration not only allows us to do this, but empowers me to create far more eloquent SharePoint sites than previously, since I have more control over security, than what SharePoint can provide out of the box.”

With Secured eCollaboration, MOEITS can provide an additional layer of security it needs for the information stored within its SharePoint environment. Delivering flexibility, Secured eCollaboration allows MOEITS to pick and choose how to secure its myriad of documents – by meta-data, document library, or by keyword. In addition, it includes the ability to send secured email without adding additional Exchange drivers.

Since receiving the 5.0 update, Ron has been impressed by other new features, which he believes provide immense value. Ron adds, “First of all the ability to use a SharePoint search across encrypted documents is huge. Users no longer have to rely on metadata-only searches for encrypted content. I was also happy to see that I now have the option to use forms based authentication. This feature is important for those that are interested in extending ECM or other content to extranets, or anyone who doesn’t rely on active directory as their authentication provider in the DMZ.”
