Successful Serial Entrepreneur and Technology Visionary Brings 30 Years of Leadership Experience in Global High Tech Businesses to Security Start-Up
Spikes Security, the isolation security company, announced that Michael Mansouri has joined the company as President and Chief Operating Officer. In the newly created position, Mansouri will work alongside CEO, CTO and founder Branden Spikes as the company continues its growth as a network security industry innovator.
“While I’ve enjoyed great success in the past, this opportunity has the potential to be absolutely game-changing,” said Mansouri. “Branden created the initial concept at SpaceX where he was Elon Musk’s right hand technology leader and then licensed it back to start the company. The innovative isolation technology we are delivering represents a significant breakthrough in the evolution of enterprise network security. It’s a solution every business needs to make the web safe again.”
“We are excited that Michael and Branden, as partners driving this innovation together, will optimize and execute the company’s strategy of delivering specialized appliances and cloud services that will ensure all users on all devices in all locations are always protected from browser malware attacks,” said Anik Bose, General Partner at Benhamou Global Ventures.
The company’s recently launched Isla family of web malware isolation appliances is designed for all businesses that want complete protection against malware delivered through web browsers. Isla eliminates this significant attack vector by processing all web content on secure appliances deployed outside the network, where content remains in hardware-isolated VMs created for each user session. All web content — audio, video, text, and graphics — is then instantly and continuously transformed into a benign, malware-free format and delivered to end user browsers using patent-pending technology developed by Spikes Security. No original web content is ever delivered to endpoint devices.
“Having Michael as my business partner will be a tremendous asset as we work together to transform the security market. Isla is the first step in that process,” said Branden Spikes. “Michael has been through this many times before, so his wisdom and expertise will be crucial to our growth and expansion as we take on the most important challenges in cybersecurity.”
Mansouri has a track record of building value for shareholders and successful exits. Mansouri was Chairman, President and CEO of iPass Inc., a leading provider of global roaming and security company with a successful exit in 2003 for $1.8 billion. He served as President and CEO of OmniTrust Security Systems, a leading provider of content security, which was sold in 2005 to Heisei Denden of Japan. Most recently he was co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Avalon Global Solutions (AGS), a leading provider of managed mobility solution, telecom expense management, and cyber security services. Mansouri expanded international partnerships and acquired a leading provider of managed wireline and mobility services. He sold the company in December 2011 to Widepoint Communications and served as the CEO of Widepoint Solutions Corporation subsidiary during his contractual obligations for multiple years.
Mansouri began his career in high tech in software design and held a host of senior management positions at Sprint International, ACSI, Intermedia Communication and Teleglobe Commercial Services.
He holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Statistics from Utah State University, MS in Management Sciences from George Washington University (Omega Rho) and completed an Executive program from the MIT Sloan School of Management program in corporate strategy.
