Lock & Key solution For protect companies dataLock & Key is a component of Imation’s recently announced Secure Data Movement Architecture (SDMA™), integrating administrative security with Imation’s Nexsan Assureon secure archive storage solutions

Imation (NYSE:IMN), a global data storage and information security company, announced that Imation Lock & Key – a new feature of Imation’s Nexsan Assureon™ secure archive solution that adds a critical layer of administrator security to data storage environments, protecting high-value data files from internal and external threats – is now generally available for sale. Imation has begun selling and shipping Lock & Key.

Using Lock & Key, organisations can enhance their security strategies by requiring a second factor of authentication for storage administrators to gain access to storage systems. By using their access credentials and an encrypted, tamper-resistant, industry-leading IronKey™ secure storage device, administrators will be able to access a secure management user interface for one or more of Imation’s Nexsan Assureon storage systems no matter where they are. Lock & Key solutions are easily deployed in plug-and-play fashion, and can be centrally controlled and administered by anyone in an organisation’s IT team who has the required access privileges.

“The vast majority of organisations today operate with just one access point to their secure management user interfaces. As today’s workforce becomes more mobile, this increasingly exposes them to the risk of their data being illegally accessed, destroyed or stolen,” said Ian Williams, group president for Imation’s Tiered Storage and Security organisation. “Lock & Key provides organisations with critical data security tools that require two-factor authentication – and is a comprehensive and innovative framework in Imation’s Secure Data Movement Architecture (SDMA™) to help safeguard and protect their most important information assets anywhere and anytime.”

Imation’s SDMA vision provides organisations a holistic approach to actively managing their high-value data files, while protecting them from tampering, destruction, loss or leakage through their entire lifecycle. SDMA empowers end users to manage their own policy for protecting their high-value data in addition to enabling organisational control and management policies. It also addresses the need to safeguard data files throughout the data lifecycle.

Lock & Key builds upon the core capabilities for SDMA and high-value data protection found within Imation’s Nexsan Assureon Secure Archive and IronKey Secure Storage solutions that are in use today. Assureon provides a comprehensive secure archive solution that protects and preserves high-value data, and IronKey mobile storage solutions enable users to securely access their workspaces and files while adhering to corporate IT standards.

With over fifty years of experience in protecting data for organisations around the world, Imation has a unique perspective to the risk organisations face in managing their data files. This legacy, along with a comprehensive secure product portfolio and over fifty data security patents and patents pending, demonstrate Imation’s mission of safeguarding data across today’s broader storage ecosystem.
