Security researcher Scott Helme has claimed that NOMX (no Mail eXchange), an email security appliance has been found to have numerous vulnerabilities and contain unpatched software. While NOMX denies the report, it points out a larger issue. Bob Noel, Director of Strategic Relationships and Marketing commented below.

Bob Noel, Director of Strategic Relationships and Marketing at Plixer:

Bob Noel“The vulnerabilities found in this NOMX device is a further example of why companies themselves must take responsibility for securing and monitoring the technology they purchase and implement.  Recently , it was reported that Samsung’s Tizen operating system was shipping with serious vulnerabilities. In addition, a number of Android devices were recently found to have shipped with ransomware and malware pre-installed.  Companies should no longer implicitly trust the safety of products as they arrive directly from the manufacturer.  It is important for all companies to deploy monitoring solutions like network traffic analytics which inspect traffic to and from every device and apply behavior analysis to uncover anomalous device behavior.”
