Procare, the US-headquartered child care management software provider has selected New Net Technologies to provide an IT security solution to ensure PCI DSS compliance.Procare software is a management tool used by more than 25,000 child-centred businesses including: child care centres, daycare providers, pre-school and after school programmes, school districts, enrichment programmes, gymnastics clubs, child activity centres and similar facilities. Procare’s inclusive solution helps organisations to manage day to day business as well as payroll, account ledgers and management of classrooms.

Procare also offers online payments and must comply with Level 1 PCI DSS compliance standards. The need to comply with this constantly evolving standard was the key driver for Procare to seek an effective IT security provider.

Kevin Malone, IT Manager at Procare Software, says:  “We offer a payment processing service called Tuition Express which provides customers with five payment collection options including: ACH withdrawals from checking or savings, credit card payments, online payments, and point-of-sale transactions. This service is required to meet level 1 PCI DSS Standards.”

Prior to selecting the Change Tracker solution from New Net Technologies, Procare had a security solution in place but it was no longer effective due to evolving regulatory standards.

Malone continues, “The driver to upgrade from the previous security solution was the evolving PCI DSS standards and the more stringent reporting requirements for PCI DSS 3.0. The software we were using previously was no longer able to meet the demands of the new standards; we needed a more robust mechanism for file integrity monitoring.”

Procare began looking into the security solutions available to meet the requirements of the recently implemented PCI DSS 3.0 standard and decided that based on both cost and the functionality available, New Net Technologies was the most suitable provider for them.

Malone comments, “We’re a smaller business and many of the security solutions we found offered more functionality than we required or were looking for. In addition when we compared the cost of the New Net Technologies Change Tracker solution to competitors such as Tripwire we realised it offered the same functionality at a better price.”

Malone concludes, “New Net Technologies stood out during the decision making process as they provided an informative demonstration of the technology that highlighted a range of reporting functionality that we were not aware would be included within the solution and that we had not considered. This combined with cost and service helped us to decide New Net Technologies was the right provider for us.”
