Interop London, the major new UK technology event and flagship of London Technology Week, has been declared a huge success after it attracted representatives from 59 countries to ExCeL London over its three days.

With more than 150 exhibitors and 200 speakers, the event drew huge crowds of IT and technology professionals between June 16-18 with 65% of attendees senior decision makers.

Designed to connect the IT and technology communities around the world, Interop London featured a world-class education programme and hundreds of solution providers demonstrating how emerging technologies and innovation are reshaping enterprises in every sector.

“It is fantastic that Interop London, our new event, has attracted so many visitors and created such an amazing buzz,” said Adrian Newton, Group Director, Aviation and Technology, UBM. “Interop London has achieved what we wanted and more – which it is to unite the IT community and the broader technology sector that is so strong in the UK right now.

In a wide-ranging programme of thought-provoking content, keynote speakers included Andy Caddy, CIO at Virgin Active, who warned how CIOs risk extinction if they cannot stay relevant to the digital world. Elsewhere, Brigadier Alan Hill of the Ministry of Defence described how the UK military is using process-driven thinking to streamline cyber defence activities and network operations. Visitors were also able to enjoy high-level discussions on critical industry questions such as how to attract more women into the booming digital economy.

Newton added: “We focused on delivering answers for business leaders and IT professionals who are driving transformational change and are preparing for digital disruption. Interop London’s success reflects the current appetite across all sectors and organisations for increased knowledge and understanding of connectivity, cyber security and intelligent buildings.”

Among the 150 exhibitors at the inaugural Interop London were: Cisco, Dell, Corvil and Tufin. Within Interop, the Black Hat Mobile Security Summit ran on June 16 and 17. The summit, a part of London Technology Week, brought together some of the industry’s brightest minds taking a look at the issue of mobile security.

While on June 18 the headline event within Interop, the CIO Summit in association with techUK, brought together many of the UK’s leading CIOs to discuss and debate the key technology and transformation issues facing today’s and tomorrow’s CIO leaders.

The event also showcased the cutting-edge innovations from within the London tech scene and startup community through its Future of Tech programme and London Technology Week Arena.
