LONDON (UK) – September 11, 2013 – Varonis Systems Inc. , the leading provider of access, governance and retention solutions for human-generated data, today announced the launch of the Varonis Data Governance Suite 5.9, which incorporates a variety of new features to better enable organisations to manage, protect and safely collaborate with unstructured data.  Included in the new feature set is Varonis DatAlert, an intelligent monitoring and change auditing solution that leverages the metadata collected by the Varonis Metadata Framework. DatAlert provides alerts on monitored unstructured data in real time, including access or deletion of sensitive data, and changes to permissions and configuration files.

Jon Oltsik, Senior Principal Analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group, said, “DatAlert’s ability to detect critical events, notify the right people, and provide the context needed to address potentially unauthorised access or changes, can help CISOs make their risk management processes more efficient and effective.”

According to a recent report from Varonis, 70% of companies are informed about data breaches through their customers and other third parties. DatAlert provides organisations with the ability to detect and uncover in real-time possible security breaches, misconfigurations, and other issues based on file activity, Active Directory changes, permissions changes, and other events.  Alert criteria and output are easily configurable so that the right people and systems can be notified about the right things, at the right times, in the right ways.

Yaki Faitelson, Varonis CEO, President and Co-Founder, said, “Organisations of all sizes are seeing explosive growth in the volume of human-generated unstructured data sets, which are typically the most valuable and sensitive files a company has. With the Varonis Metadata Framework, our customers are able to extract more value from these types of data, while at the same time reducing demands on IT by relying on Varonis’ platform to help them identify and better secure sensitive data. DatAlert is the latest addition to our platform, helping our customers get critical information about their data in real time.”

For a complete list of the new features included in the Varonis Data Governance Suite 5.9, including customised compliance templates for PCI, HIPAA, SOX, and GLBA, automatic share detection, and support for Microsoft Server 2012, please see the Varonis’ web site at http://blog.varonis.com/real-time-alerting-and-monitoring-with-varonis-datalert.

Since 2004, Varonis has been building solutions to help organisations better manage, protect and derive more value from their human-generated unstructured data. The Varonis Data Governance Suite includes DatAdvantage for Windows, UNIX/Linux, SharePoint, Exchange, and Directory Services; DataPrivilege; and the IDU Classification Framework. Varonis solutions for human-generated unstructured data also include DatAnywhere, a secure alternative to traditional cloud-based file sharing solutions, and the Data Transport Engine to intelligently migrate data across platforms and domains and enforce retention policies.
