Whitehall Media is pleased to announce its annual Government IT Security & Risk Management (GOVSEC) conference, an event which will focus on key aspects of public sector ICT security.

The conference will take place on 24 September 2014 at the Hotel Russell in central London.

Aimed at senior decision-makers across the public sector, the all-day event will explore how public bodies can secure their critical information and assets, as well as how they can guard against cyber espionage and a range of other security threats, including criminal and negligent behaviour. Through a series of thought-leadership and case-study presentations, the conference will showcase examples of how technology is solving strategic security issues within public sector organisations.

“GOVSEC 2014 will explore how government can function effectively, safely and securely through improved ICT”, said Whitehall Media’s managing director Waqas Hashemi.

“The event will bring together information security leaders and professionals across the whole of the UK public sector. GOVSEC will enable CISOs to share best practice on how information security policies can be integrated at the start of a business and ICT strategy rather than being bolted on at the end. Expert speakers will shed light on how organisations can protect vital interests and secure critical assets in a modern information economy.”

“With the advent of digitised public services, public sector professionals are having to adapt to new challenges through new delivery models and ways of working. GOVSEC will help attendees  make sense of the rapidly changing environment and gain new ideas and fresh momentum to drive forward their information security strategies.”

The conference will be chaired by Sarb Sembhi, Chair of the Government and Regulatory Advocacy Committee at ISACA. The day will feature speakers from the Government Digital Service (GDS), the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP), HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), CREST, Northumberland County Council, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, Leicester City Council, and the University of Oxford.
