Automated advertising set up for mobile applications have little oversight and are often infiltrated with malware. Chris Olson, CEO at The Media Trust commented below.
Chris Olson, CEO at The Media Trust:
“Premium mobile application (apps), just like premium highly trafficked websites, are prime targets for malware attacks. An app provider should not have to wait until a consumer raises a complaint to address malware found on their application. As complex as it can get, the onus is still on the app provider to proactively scan for malware, using real world profiles of app users in order to detect anomalous behavior. Ultimately, an ad-supported app provider needs to develop a trusted network of partners. It is crucial for app providers to identify the direct and indirect partners operating within their digital ecosystem in order to effectively control the quality of the ad inventory and swiftly remediate malware incidents and any other policy violations.”
