Sphonic has announced that Tom Sullivan has joined the company and will help launch its products into the “Americas” market. Tom Sullivan comes on board with a wealth of experience in the digital payments and fraud prevention industry, having spent the last twelve years at Expedia Inc. as Senior Director, Global Risk & Payments. Tom also was the Chairman of the Merchant Risk Council, driving the organisation’s impressive growth over the last 10 years.

Tom joins Sphonic Americas in order to replicate Sphonic’s successes in Europe in providing innovative solutions for risk management and customer acceptance. With the development of Workflow Manager (“WFM”), which was invented by Andy Lee, Founder & Chief Product Officer, Sphonic has since provided its clients the ability to harness data from an unlimited number of leading vendors through a single API. By incorporating in-flight decisions and other real-time logic, WFM is increasingly becoming a platform of choice for leading brands in the UK and Europe.

Upon his appointment to Sphonic Americas, Tom Sullivan remarked, “I am excited to start a new challenge with Sphonic and look forward to working with the team to further develop their extensive product and service suite into the Americas. With a number of career options on the table, I was most attracted to Sphonic’s vision to support a vibrant digital payments and banking environment in the Americas region.”

Riten Gohil, CEO, said “Tom’s wealth of experience and industry knowledge made him our number one choice to lead our Americas operation. There is a huge amount of innovation in the US and the rest of America in the digital payments and banking space where the Sphonic technology can provide huge value. With Tom leading our efforts in this region, we are excited to provide the market access to our products, which have been successful in Europe.”

Riten also went on to discuss the appointment of Daniel Wedge as the Global MD to assist in the international expansion of Sphonic. “Daniel brings a wealth of global business knowledge that makes him ideal in leading our efforts to grow the business outside of Europe. His experience in the AML solutions space is exciting to us as we continue to develop compelling solutions for our clients and partners.”
