With the UK heading to the polls, businesses across the country have raised concerns over leaving the European Union.  Richard Lack, director of sales, EMEA, at Gigya commented below.

Richard Lack, Director of Sales, EMEA at Gigya:

Richard Lack“With the EU Referendum results looming, there have been anxieties over how the UK would form data privacy regulations should we exit the EU and be exempt from the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

However, in the event of a Brexit vote, it would make no sense at all for UK regulations to be any less stringent.  Poor safeguards against loss, theft and misuse of data would ultimately cost UK business, as consumers and brands put their data elsewhere. Data security is a competitive advantage and not an unwelcome cost.

In fact, best-of-breed, cloud-based customer identity and access management (CIAM) solutions can offload much of the cost, resources and risk from businesses when it comes to maintaining privacy. A CIAM platform helps manage customer authentication, identities and data, saving significant development time and resources that would otherwise be spent managing regional privacy regulations. It also gives businesses the flexibility to structure registration forms and flows when implementing social login.

As data becomes the linchpin of business success, consumers are growing increasingly wary of how their personal information is being used, and there’s no doubt about it: privacy can be pricey; however solutions exist to help businesses operate in the best possible way.”
