IAPP and CSA announce new strategic alliance.

Portsmouth, NH – January 17, 2014 – Today, the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the largest organization of privacy professionals in the world, announced a new strategic alliance with the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within cloud computing. The new alliance will broaden the educational and networking opportunities available for both IAPP and CSA members by bringing together the IAPP’s Privacy Academy and the CSA Congress 2014 this fall.  The joint event will take place September 17-19, 2014, at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, CA.

“We are delighted that the IAPP and CSA can bring these two industry-leading conferences together under one roof,” said Trevor Hughes, CIPP, President and CEO of the IAPP. “Through this union, this event is now the center of gravity for information governance and management professionals to navigate the continually evolving challenges of the digital economy.”

The joint conference will give attendees double the education for the price of a single conference. At a time when professional development budgets are experiencing cuts, this is a great opportunity to receive the most educational value for the money.

“Cloud security and privacy matters continue to twist and turn, especially given events of late, with the industry in constant pursuit for the best knowledge and practices to stay ahead of what’s next in securing all forms of computing,” said Jim Reavis, CEO of the CSA. “This joint event will do that and so much more. Both the IAPP and CSA possess strong track records in delivering powerful content that is informative, practical and immediately useful to today’s security professionals and enterprises.  We are tremendously excited with this new alliance and look forward to building a program in the coming months to bring CSA and IAPP members a new and exciting event.”

The joint conference will merge together the best of the security and privacy industries to create a unique cross-educational opportunity to discuss the practical and theoretical in today’s data driven economy. The IAPP and CSA will issue a call for speakers for the fall event on January 27.  Information and submission forms will be made available on the both organizations’ websites.
