SunTrust Banks Inc. has revealed that a former employee stolen the personal information of more than a 1.5 million clients. It is thought the individual had access to critical data including customer names, addresses, phone numbers, and certain account balances. It is therefore important for companies to have an all-encompassing threat detection and response strategy that can not only alert where external attacks are attempted, but where insiders misuse their legitimate access by monitoring network traffic, endpoints, and behavioural analysis.”
