GreenSQL, the award-winning leader in unified database security and compliance solutions, has announced the availability of the industry’s first software-based database security and compliance solution for Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers hosting databases on Amazon RDS and Amazon EC2 instances. GreenSQL for AWS is a powerful “database firewall” and compliance solution that adds important security and auditing functionality to AWS databases.

GreenSQL first discovers where sensitive data is located and then protects customers from SQL injection attacks. It enables organizations to secure sensitive information (e.g., SSNs, credit card numbers, e-mails and passwords) from unauthorized database access, enforce separation-of-duties, mask sensitive data, monitor and audit data access and meet regulatory compliance requirements, such as PCI and HIPAA. Installed as a front-end to the cloud database, the GreenSQL solution fully camouflages and secures database applications and the data they maintain.

“Astoundingly, 78% of IT managers cite security and compliance as a barrier to cloud adoption, which is why we architected the GreenSQL database security solution to address and mitigate these issues. We provide customers with comprehensive real-time interception of malicious and inadvertent threats to AWS databases, while also allowing developers and contractors to perform their duties without ever gaining access to sensitive or protected information,” said Amir Sadeh, CEO of GreenSQL. “Anyone who might have had concerns about moving to AWS because of regulatory or security concerns can now do so with complete confidence.”

“GreenSQL’s family of unified database security solutions not only allows us to protect our most sensitive data with a comprehensive solution, it ensures we are in compliance with all necessary regulatory standards,” said Daniel Kushner, CEO of Oktopost. “GreenSQL’s ease of use and ability to quickly scale to meet our needs made it an obvious choice for our database security solution. As we evaluate our options in the cloud, we are confident that data will remain protected whether it resides on-premise or in the cloud. GreenSQL has a proven solution with a solid team behind it.”

Now available for AWS customers though the AWS Marketplace, GreenSQL’s unified software approach provides auto data discovery, database security, Database Activity Monitoring (DAM), and dynamic data masking in one comprehensive solution that addresses today’s myriad of database security needs. This unique solution inspects every command sent to the cloud database in real-time, regardless of the source of the request, allowing organizations to protect their sensitive data from possible insider threats: employees, business partners and contractors. GreenSQL acts as a reverse proxy between applications and the Amazon AWS database. All client applications are supported and no software installation is required on the database side.
