Security Awareness Computer Based TrainingIn response to customer demand, PhishMe adds CBFree to help organisations meet compliance obligations

PhishMe Inc., the leading provider of phishing threat management solutions, confirmed it has introduced Computer Based Training (CBT) modules, available for all to access – completely free of charge. Released in support of Security Serious week and National Cyber Security Awareness Month, PhishMe’s CBFree offers high quality security awareness modules covering a variety of security topics to meet an organisation’s compliance obligations.

PhishMe’s CBFree is a library of awareness CBTs, comprising of 12 modules, developed using the latest eLearning techniques and trends to promote substantial engagement from pupils. Each module takes about five minutes to complete with an optional five minute interactive Q&A.

Speaking about this initiative, Scott Greaux – VP of Product Management at PhishMe explains, “Over the years, many of our customers asked PhishMe to provide awareness CBTs in order to satisfy compliance requirements. Today, we’ve not only obliged, but taken it a step further. The introduction of our CBFree program allows organisations to check the compliance box, reserving budget and focus for solutions that provide measurable improvements to their security posture.”

‘Free’ doesn’t mean old or obsolete content

PhishMe has an amazing content team that regularly updates its best-in-class simulation content, producing professional, quality assurance tested materials at breakneck speed, internationalised and translated on a weekly basis. CBFree is an additional content project that the team will continue to maintain, ensuring the material remains fresh, is compliant, and has relevance to real world campaigns.

Speaking about PhishMe’s decision not to charge for these modules, Greaux added, “Computer-based training can help reinforce good security practices, but does little to change undesirable behaviour that presents a risk to organisations. Our experience tells us that programs that rely on CBT training alone are not as effective as conditioning employees to identify and report suspicious emails through real world simulations. It is evident from our actions today that PhishMe feels strongly that organisations should not be forced to pay for content that only serves to distract users and satisfy a compliance checkbox. We don’t think that that’s fair so, instead, we’re going to give it away for free – to everyone, no catch.”

PhishMe makes the process of implementing its CBTs in an organisations’ environment very simple. With a Learning Management System (LMS) that ingests SCORM-compliant materials, organisations can simply download the files and run the training through their own LMS.
